ACM/ACP Signs

About this acm/acp signs

The standard metal sign: aluminium composite panel printed direct on the flatbed and drilled to your fixing pattern. Flat, light for its size, and the default choice when a job asks for "metal" without specifying which one.

Questions we get asked

ACM or solid aluminium?

ACM for almost everything: lighter, flatter, cheaper and it prints beautifully. Solid aluminium only where the sign will be hit, bent to a curve, or fixed somewhere a plastic core would be a problem, because it costs more and is heavier to freight.

How do you fix it to a wall?

Corner-drilled holes with masonry screws and cup washers is the standard. Ask for oversized holes on a long panel: metal expands in the sun and a tightly bolted sign will bow. For a clean face, panels can be tape-mounted to a smooth surface or fixed to a subframe.

Can you make safety signs in the standard layout?

Yes. Send the wording and we will set it in the conventional safety format, with the pictogram, the signal word and the message panel in the expected colours. If the sign has to comply with a specific standard on your site, name it and we will match the layout to it.

Do the corners have to be square?

No, and usually they should not be. Radiused corners are safer to handle, less likely to catch the wind and lift, and they look more finished. We can also route the panel to a full custom outline if the shape matters.

Can it be printed on both sides?

For a hanging or projecting sign it should be. Note that ACM has a face and a back, and only the face is finished for print, so a genuinely double-sided metal sign is usually two panels bonded back to back. We will quote it that way.
