Questions we get asked
Which way should the flutes run?
Vertically if the sign goes on an H-stake, so the wire legs slide up inside the flutes. Horizontally if the sign is wide and unsupported, because the flutes stiffen the sheet along their length. Tell us how it is being mounted and we will orient the board to suit.
What are the standard sizes?
Most corflute work comes off 600 x 900mm and 900 x 1200mm, which nest efficiently on the sheet and suit off-the-shelf stakes and frames. A custom size costs no more to print but can waste board, so ask before you settle on an odd dimension.
How do I fix it up?
H-stakes in soft ground, cable ties through drilled holes or eyelets on temporary fencing, and screws with large washers on a hard wall. Never drive a screw straight through a flute without a washer: the head pulls through the board the first time it moves.
Is corflute recyclable?
It is polypropylene, which is a widely recycled plastic, but a printed board is not accepted in most kerbside bins. For a large campaign, plan collection and drop-off at a commercial recycler rather than assuming the council bin will take it.
Do election signs need anything special on them?
Electoral material generally has to carry an authorisation line naming who authorised it and where they are. The exact wording and the placement rules are set by the relevant electoral commission and they change between elections, so confirm the current requirement before you send artwork.
