Questions we get asked

How are banners finished?

The standard finish is a welded hem around all edges, with brass eyelets in each corner and at approximately 500 mm centres along the edges.

For banners mounted to a frame or drop pole, choose pole pockets at the top and bottom. For installations requiring higher tension, a rope-in-hem provides additional reinforcement.

How much should I allow at the edges for the hem?

Design artwork to the finished banner size and keep all important text and logos at least 50 mm from the edges.

The hem folds the material back on itself, while eyelets are positioned along the reinforced edge. Keeping artwork clear of this area helps prevent important elements from being folded under or covered by an eyelet.

Will it survive wind?

A solid PVC banner can act like a sail in strong wind. On exposed fences, use mesh to allow airflow through the banner or consider wind slits in solid PVC where appropriate.

Secure every eyelet rather than tying only the corners, and use cable ties or shock cord that allows some movement instead of pulling the banner tight with rope.

Can you print both sides?

Yes. Use blockout stock for double-sided banners, as standard PVC can allow the reverse image to show through.

If both faces need to read correctly on a pole banner, supply both artworks and specify which side should face the traffic.

What resolution does the artwork need to be?

Install window film on the inside wherever the application allows. The glass protects the film from weather, cleaning and vandalism, helping the graphic last significantly longer.

Perforated one-way vision film is the exception. Its perforations need to face the viewer to create the one-way vision effect, so it is installed on the outside of the glass.
